AION 2 maintenance schedule
NCSOFT has not published a fixed weekly maintenance day for the global version. What the notices show so far: the scheduled maintenances of Oct 6 and Oct 13 and the temporary one of Oct 8 all began at 23:30 PDT, which is 08:30 CEST and 06:30 UTC the next morning. The Sep 30 maintenance began at 23:00 PDT.
Regular maintenance dates already named in other official notices, without a time:
- Tuesday, Oct 20 (PDT) / Wednesday, Oct 21 (CEST), from [Notice] Server Transfer Products Info.
- Tuesday, Oct 27 (PDT) / Wednesday, Oct 28 (CET), from [Notice] Server Transfer Products Info.
- Tuesday, Nov 24 (PST) / Wednesday, Nov 25 (CET), from [Notice] Server Transfer Q&A.
When NCSOFT posts the notice with a start time, the status card above picks it up within the hour and starts the countdown.
Is AION 2 down? How to read the server status
Three things can make AION 2 unreachable: a scheduled maintenance (the game login closes and players are disconnected), a temporary maintenance announced at short notice, as on Oct 8, and an outage such as the cloud service outage that hit some EU servers on Oct 8. NCSOFT posts a notice on Steam for each; this page reads them and says which one applies right now.
Not every maintenance closes the game. The Oct 13 platform services maintenance only stopped new account registration for 30 minutes, so the status card does not count it as downtime.
We do not ping the game servers, and a problem NCSOFT has not announced will not show here. The Steam player count does not tell you either: during the Oct 14 maintenance Steam still counted about 12,000 open clients. The AION 2 player count page marks each maintenance window on its chart so you can see that dip.
Server transfers also stop and start around maintenance; the hours are on the AION 2 server transfer page.
AION 2 maintenance questions
Is AION 2 down right now?
Only while an announced maintenance window is running or NCSOFT has posted an outage notice. The status card at the top of this page reads NCSOFT's notices on Steam every hour and says which case applies. It does not ping the game servers, so a problem NCSOFT has not announced yet will not show here.
How long does AION 2 maintenance last?
The notices so far gave 1.5 hours (Sep 30), 8 hours for the switch from Early Access to launch (Oct 4 to 5), 3 hours 30 minutes planned on Oct 6 (5 hours 30 minutes for Asia; NCSOFT later struck the time and wrote that servers were back online), 1 hour 30 minutes for the temporary maintenance on Oct 8, and 4 hours on Oct 13 (PDT). The table below lists each one with its notice.
When is the next AION 2 maintenance?
The scheduled maintenances on Oct 6 and Oct 13 and the temporary one on Oct 8 all started at 23:30 PDT (08:30 CEST the next day). NCSOFT has not published a fixed weekly schedule; the server transfer notices refer to regular maintenances on Tuesday, Oct 20 and Tuesday, Oct 27 (PDT) without giving a time yet.
Is AION 2 playable now?
If the status card shows no maintenance and no outage notice, NCSOFT has not announced any downtime. The Steam player count alone cannot tell you: during the 4-hour maintenance on Oct 14 (UTC) our Steam samples still counted about 12,000 open clients, so a non-zero Steam player count does not mean the servers are up.
