AION 2 Templar PvE build direction

Settled points are ones at least two independent sources agree on; the rest name their one source. Sources checked Oct 15, 2026.

  • PvE stigma set: Empyrean Lord's Punishment, Battlefield Banner, Doom Shield, Taunt.
  • A Korean forum reply to a global player suggests a different PvE four: Protective Shield, Noble Armor, Battlefield Banner and Taunt (our translation from Korean). (Sol and the Fextralife wiki take Empyrean Lord and Doom Shield instead of Protective Shield and Noble Armor; Battlefield Banner and Taunt are on both sides.)
  • Battlefield Banner is in the PvE stigma set.
  • Taunt is in the group PvE stigma set.
  • Executing Blade in PvE. (The Fextralife wiki swaps it in for Taunt when farming solo; Leonis removed it from his build, saying its defense-down does not work in PvE.)
  • Stigma leveling: unlock all four at Lv1 first, then push by breakpoint value per mode.
  • Judgment, Punishment and Pummel are the core damage skills to push toward level 20.
  • Role of Pummel: Sol and the Fextralife wiki keep it as filler between Judgment windows. (Leonis's Sep 29 video drops Pummel for Vicious Strike spam; a later edit to his questlog build adds Pummel back to the macro.)
  • Vicious Strike hits cut Warding Strike cooldown, giving more Judgment procs.
  • Judgment specialization includes Critical Hit and Remove cooldown (Lv16), letting Judgment repeat inside trigger windows.
  • Punishment PvE specialization: damage over time plus +30% Skill Speed.
  • Shield Smite specialization with 50% chance to trigger Debilitating Smash.
  • Core passives named: Fury, Punishing Benediction, Insulting Roar.
  • Warding Strike Lv16 specialization gives the party damage tolerance.
  • Accuracy is a top-priority stat.
  • Block is a key defensive stat (Sol: main defensive stat, aim ~1,000).
  • Combat Speed is valued for damage.
  • Build around Might for attack scaling.
  • Prefer right sub-stats over higher gear score; keep blue rings that add Judgment/Punishment levels.
  • Weapon/guard sub-stats: Combat Speed and Weapon Damage Boost first.
  • Path the board to key skill nodes first rather than completing the board or corner keynodes.
  • After skills, Sol orders passives Fury, Punishing Benediction, Insulting Roar, Impact Hit, then Survival Willpower / Ironclad Defense.
  • In-game macro is used for the rotation.
  • Sol PvE in-game macro chain: Annihilate -> Debilitating Smash -> Flash Rampage -> Pummel, Judgment on a separate key.
  • Leonis levelling macro lists Shield Smite and Debilitating Smash; spam Pummel plus macro while levelling.
  • Sol also uses an external mouse macro (~10 presses/sec) for Judgment animation-cancel.
  • Global allows only four stigmas equipped at once.
  • Highest stigma level on global. (The Inven thread says 20; Sol lists breakpoints up to level 25; the Fextralife wiki goes up to 20. Not checked in game.)

AION 2 Templar PvP build direction

  • Solo PvP stigma set: Executing Blade, Empyrean Lord's Punishment, Doom Shield, Nezekan's Shield.

  • Stigma leveling: unlock all four at Lv1 first, then push by breakpoint value per mode.
  • Judgment, Punishment and Pummel are the core damage skills to push toward level 20.
  • Judgment specialization includes Critical Hit and Remove cooldown (Lv16), letting Judgment repeat inside trigger windows.
  • Shield Smite specialization with 50% chance to trigger Debilitating Smash.
  • Debilitating Smash used for healing reduction on the target in PvP.
  • Annihilate PvP specialization: knockdown chance plus cooldown reduction.
  • Core passives named: Fury, Punishing Benediction, Insulting Roar.
  • Accuracy is a top-priority stat.
  • Block is a key defensive stat (Sol: main defensive stat, aim ~1,000).

Templar stigmas: four slots on global

Leonis and a global player on Inven both say the global version lets you equip four stigmas at once, fewer than the Korean server, so Korean Templar stigma lists need trimming. How high stigmas go is less clear: the Inven thread says level 20, while Sol's guide lists breakpoints up to level 25. According to Sol, group PvP swaps Nezekan's Shield for Comrade in Arms, and Second Skin replaces Empyrean Lord's Punishment when you need to survive; the Fextralife wiki has the same swaps, possibly copied from his guide.

AION 2 Templar build questions

Which stigmas does an AION 2 Templar use?

According to Sol's guide: Empyrean Lord's Punishment, Battlefield Banner, Doom Shield and Taunt for PvE, and Executing Blade, Empyrean Lord's Punishment, Doom Shield and Nezekan's Shield for solo PvP. The Fextralife wiki lists the same sets, possibly copied from Sol, so we count them as one source. A Korean forum reply to a global player also names Battlefield Banner and Taunt for PvE but suggests Protective Shield and Noble Armor for the other two slots.

Which stats matter for an AION 2 Templar build?

According to Sol's guide, Accuracy comes first, Block is the key defensive stat and Combat Speed adds damage; for PvP he adds Status Effect Resistance. The Fextralife wiki says the same, possibly copied from Sol, and no third guide we read lists Templar stats.

Can a Templar use a greatsword in AION 2?

In the Oct 14 patch notes, NCSOFT sells the Templar's class weapon skin as a longsword and the greatsword skin only to Gladiators. We found no official statement that a Templar can equip a greatsword.

Is the Templar good DPS in AION 2?

Published lists differ: ExpCarry's PvE damage list (Oct 7) gives the Templar an A, its group PvE list an S. All six class guides we compared call the Templar the dedicated tank; Sol's DPS-focused guide pushes Judgment, Punishment and Pummel (the Fextralife wiki says the same, possibly copied).
